Freight insurance

Freight insurance, or goods insurance, is an insurance policy that protects goods’ owners against financial loss when goods are on their way from supplier to recipient.

Do you need freight insurance?

It is the goods owner's responsibility to insure the goods. Any business that sells, buys or otherwise transport goods, should consider whether a freight insurance should be undertaken. If you have freight insurance,  the claim against Viasea will be handled by your insurance company.

Some advice of what to consider when evaluating if your company need freight insurance;
  1. Can the company withstand a loss equal to an entire consignment?
  2. Should the company only insure against catastrophic losses, or does it want “complete coverage” ?
  3. Does your company have the capacity to handle claims on its own, or is a partner like an insurance company needed?
